Wounded Knee

There is a petition that is being circulated for the withdrawl of the Medals of Honor
that were awarded to 23 soldiers for their participation in the massacre of 350 unarmed
Native Americans at Wounded Knee. It is time that these medals be rescinded from those
soldiers of the 7th Calvary who accepted them for their participation in the slaughter of
innocent women, children and unarmed men. Please go to the link below and sign the
petition to help rectify this injustice. It is time that Wounded Knee be remembered for
what it was... a massacre and these Medal of "Dis" Honor be revoked.

At Guantánamo......Habeas corpus was eliminated. ...Defendants will not be able to see secret evidence against them. ...Hearsay evidence and confessions coerced as a result of torture will be used to convict. This is not American justice.

What I witnessed today in a Guantánamo courtroom made that clearer than ever.
At their arraignment before a military commission on terrorism-related charges, detainees accused of participating in the 9/11 attacks refused legal representation by military and civilian defense attorneys.

Every day, the Bush Administration’s un-American system of injustice continues to make a mockery of due process and the rule of law.
It’s time to bring it to an end.

At Guantánamo, convictions can be based on evidence derived from torture. Hearsay and secret evidence are permitted. And the proceedings are subject to unlawful political influence.

Lebovitz/Cyrus Photo Scandal

In regards to my opinion on the concept if the photo is art or trash by Annie Lebovitz:
After researching the incident & the circumstances surrounding the photo shoot
I think the only reason why it's getting negative attention is because of the Cyrus family backing out after the initial brew-ha-ha over a 16 yr old
posing like that. I don't see any problem with it. She's not being portrayed in any way pornographically or distastefully. I still think Annie's photographs are astounding and continue to push the envelope in stirring controversy. Something I think that is missing from allot of creative endeavors these days. Getting people to "think" is just as much a part of great art as visual enjoyment.

I just demanded that my members of Congress support strenuous efforts, including the appointment of an independent prosecutor, to hold President Bush, Vice-President Cheney and other high-ranking officials accountable for their role in crafting torture policy.

Dad,

Are you out there? Do you still see me as I continue to walk through this life? Do you know how much I miss your smile, your laugh & the jokes you used to tell me? My heart has still not healed even after these last 2 years. At times, it seems like the pain is worse than the last time we looked into each other eyes with so many words unspoken, as you lay taking your last breaths. I would have gladly taken your place Dad.. do you know that? Did you know it then? I would have done anything for you, anything. I did the most I could & it still was not enough to repay you for all the love, encouragement & strength that you gave me to stand on my own two feet after so much other tragedy in my life. Now...there is no one left to talk to Dad. We knew each others heart & soul, and there is no other that knew me that way or understood me the way that you did. I hope you hear me Dad. I miss you.... I have finished several sketches/drawings as prelims for future paintings. I will be posting these as soon as I get them photographed. If everything goes as planned, that will be tomorrow. I may even complete a quick painting tomorrow from one of them if I feel as good as I do now. Spring is in the air...the chinook winds are blowing & bringing with them all type of creative energy for me. I can't seem to sketch fast enough or stop all of these different images from flooding and stirring my imagination. I've broken out of my rut! YEAH!!!!! :)

Death

This is a tribute to my bird, "Chloe", that was my friend for over 22 yrs. She was a cockatiel that was the mate to my male tiel, "Pujah". Well tonight she passed away unexpectedly. I noticed that she didn't seem to be her regular self yesterday. She was sleeping more & sitting on the bottom of the cage in her favorite corner. It was a place she used to go to when she wanted to be left alone from Pujah's pestering. Earlier today, she wouldn't come & eat so I tried to coax her
out of the cage. Nothing doing. So I brought her out & held her for awhile. She drank a little & ate a little from my hand, but nothing like her normal routine. I watched her for about 2 hours & she
went back to sleep when I put her in the cage. About 3 hours ago I went to check on her again &
she didn't look well at all. Her head was resting on the lip of the cage. So I brought her out & held
her for about 2 hours. Talking to her & petting her. She fell back to sleep. She only woke up once to let out a little chirp & then she was gone. I cried. Some people may say, "Crap, it's only a bird." But she was around longer then many, many of the human friends that have passed in & out of my life, and she never complained. Always was happy to see me in the morning & always
responded & gave me kisses when I played & talked to her.
So, I hope you're in heaven enjoying your freedom & flying with the angels "Chloe". I'll miss you and yes... I loved you, until the very end.

Commitments

I have decided that I must get serious about producing some artwork. I vasciliate constantly between doing something about it & then just sit on my butt and do nothing. There is so many pieces laying around my place that are unfinished, but I don't feel inclined to complete any of them especially. Perhaps I should just make a clean break & use all the canvasses over again for new works. I have to get out of this rut. I am stuck in a perpetual motion of nothingness. No meaning to my life, no work to express myself, no fun, no happiness. At the very least if I dig in & tap my creativity & produce something, that may bring along the rest of the "no's". I'm going to do something tomorrow after I get back from the Dr.'s & post it on here. That will be the goal I will set for now. Make/paint/draw something tomorrow & post it, without fail. I'm not going to let myself down again by not doing it. There.. I feel better already. :)

Gifts

Well, I have two new gifts that have come to me unexpectantly.
First, I rescued a little grey/white persian kitten that was trying to
survive underneath a stump in the snow. He was rail thin & wouldn't
have made it much longer with the cold weather & the condition that he
was in. I've named him "Ugg", because he's the ugliest little cat that I've
ever seen. :) He seems to be doing well now & has adjusted to the our
other cat & our Beagle.
Next, about a week after I saved the kitten. Someone chained with a
bunjie cord, a Beagle pup to my screen door while I was out walking
my other dog. This poor dog was left on my doorstep in the pouring
down rain & was howling like he was going to die. He's in pretty good
condition, though un-neutered. Him & Trin have made fast friends with
each other & daily romp together now. He leaves the cats alone too, which
is excellent. I have searched the internet in the lost animal sections through
several angencies, and have not found the owner for either animal. So for now,
they've settled into our household. My brother is planning on adopting, "Sam",
the new Beagle. That is... if I decide to let him go. I really should, because
walking the two dogs is a huge chore for me. But Trin seems to be enjoying
"Sam's" company so much! She's never had anyone to play with before, and
I have to admit, it's a riot watching them play together & tire each other out.
So for now, the house is really, really full!
That's about all for now. I think that's about all I can handle for the
time being!!! :D

I'm back...

I'm now back after the holidays. They're tough for all of us! :)
Hope everyone enjoyed their families, friends & such bringing in the New Year!
I'm still working on 2 projects that will be posted here when they are
complete. I work slow. I'm not a speed painter by any means. I've had
some works that have been sitting for a good 5 years uncompleted.
Sometimes I get to a certain point & then I just can't seem to complete
the process. I have to let it sit and grow on me. Let me visualize what
I'm trying to convey & how I want to commit the final vision that is
in my mind to canvas or paper.

I've been busy browsing through YouTube, Wet Canvas, Artists Networks,
Daily Paintings and other such sites. I love being able to view all the art that
is out there being created & seeing the work that others are doing. It's so
very inspirational and expands my knowledge of what is new that is going
on...almost instantly. So very different from before computers. What a
change. For those of you that have grown up in the age of computers you
have no idea what I'm talking about. But the old timers know what I'm
speaking of. The only thing that I miss is being able to actually speak
face to face with some of these brillant and ingenious new artists and
see their work live. But it's still all very wonderful!

I have made a pledge to boycott China. For both of the issues of human
rights violations and animal cruelty that is being perpetrated through
their fur industry. It is abhorrent & horrendous the things that are
being done to both fellow human beings & to innocent animals. If you
want to join the cause please check out PETA for animal activism &
information pertaining to China & their fur trade. There is also
a grassroots organization that is gaining momentum to boycott the
2008 Olympics in China & the sponsors who are supporting it.
I believe China is not a suitable Country for representing what
the Olympic games are suppose to represent. Unity of humanity.
The Republic of China violates that very concept by their treatment
of their fellow human beings.
2 million animals were tortured and murdered in 2007 for China's
fur trade. Canada is the main recipient of inported fur from China &
they expect to double the amount of inport by 2010.
Cats & dogs are being horribly excuted & slaughtered..most of
them suffering immensly for many, many minutes under the most
horrific mutulations that I have ever witnessed. Please read up on
this if you have any type of compassion at all for animals. There is no
need for any animal to be killed for their fur or meat these days.
See if you don't agree with me that this is completely unacceptable &
has to be stopped at all costs. Please boycott China. I do not have
anything against the chinese people at all, it is the government and
their refusal to put into place any type of laws to protect animals that
I abhor.

Hmmm

Today has not been a kind day to me, unfortunately. I am disabled as I have advanced Hep C,
spinal problems, & neurological deficits also. So... today has been a rather poopy one. I'm not
feeling well. I received a letter from the doctors office indicating that I now also have Kidney
disease. Just another thing thanks to the Hep C. It was inevitable at some point. Having taken
care of my father who suffered from that also, along with advanced liver problems too, it tended to take me back to last year when I took care of him through the last year of his life. He passed
away in the summer of 2006. He suffered greatly & I tried to make his last days as comfortable
as possible for him. I'm very glad I was there in Portland, OR. (my hometown) to be with him
through it all. It also gave me a window into the future to see how I will go. It....will be difficult.
And I can't help wondering, who will be there for me? I don't get depressed or angry over
my condition, but I do wonder about the future & how I will cope and who will be with me for
the ride in the end. I suppose it will be a test and will reveal those who most care for me &
will stand beside me to the end. Not walk away....as so many of my Dads friends did in the
end. I don't understand people sometimes. I feel more intune with animals, and have all of
my life. People are so unpredictable, animals.....never. Animals will show their love unconditionally, if you treat them well. People & friends, family....they will say sometimes they
love you, but will turn their heads aside and walk away when they are most needed. To spare
themselves the pain? Perhaps, but all of life is balanced by pain & joy. So I believe you should
meet each head on & be there for each other at every step of the way. Whether it hurts or not.
Generally the person that is hurting, (emotionally or physically) is far more in need of something
to distract them or help them with what they are going through then the one who turns & walks away so they do not have to deal with it. I've been accused many times of being a dreamer.
I usually can always see some good, no matter the situation. Maybe that is why I can cope better than others with difficult trials & have survived many of them throughout the years.
"Shrug". Who knows. I know many people have counted on me in difficult times & I have
always tried to be available for them. I will listen.... I will love...... I will be there.......
for anyone that I care deeply for. I hope people feel the same for me in the end.
Well, off I go to figure out what I will be painting in this mood. Then to put together my
digital camera to photograph my work. I will post something tomorrow of my artwork.
Tonight I'm going to relax. :)

It's that time....

Well, I finally did it and have entered into the Bloggers community. I have no
idea what to expect but I am happy to be here. I'm looking forward to posting my
paintings & drawings and sharing them with others to enjoy.

I'm contemplating joining the artistic movement of doing a painting a day. That is
what has prompted me to finally become a blogger. If I decide to make that
commitment I needed to have a valid blog site to link to the Painters Daily web ring.
It's a wonderful movement and I support their efforts wholeheartedly.
I hope that I can join them in the future!!!

Anyhow, that's all for now. My pup is whining to go outside. (Must have that
potty break Mom!!!!).
